KONCEPT® Medical Clinic provides consultant-led vascular care to patients across Wimbledon and Putney, from our CQC-registered clinic in central Kingston upon Thames. We assess and treat varicose veins, leg ulcers, lipoedema, lymphoedema, the diabetic foot and peripheral arterial disease, with duplex ultrasound and most procedures done under local anaesthetic as a day case.
Wimbledon, Raynes Park, Southfields and Putney (SW15, SW19, SW20) reach us along the A238 and A219 or by train via Raynes Park and New Malden, so most patients are scanned and given a written plan on the same first visit in most cases.

Wimbledon and Putney are full of runners, cyclists and gym-goers, and movement is good for your veins. But long hours standing or sitting at a desk, pregnancy, family history and simple ageing of the vein valves can still cause varicose veins and aching, heavy legs even in fit, active people. Exercise helps, but it doesn’t repair a valve that has already started to leak.
Blood has to travel up the leg against gravity to get back to the heart. The engine that does this is the calf muscle pump, often called the “peripheral heart”. Every time you walk, the calf muscles squeeze the deep veins and push blood upward, while one-way valves stop it falling back. When those valves leak, the pump becomes less efficient and blood pools, which is why legs feel worse after a day of standing and better after a walk. It’s also why walking is part of the treatment, both before and after vein procedures, and why prolonged immobility (long flights, long desk days) raises clot risk. Strong calves help, but a leaking valve still needs assessing.

The clinic is at 46–48 Wood Street, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1UW. From Wimbledon and Raynes Park it is around 15–20 minutes by car via the A238 (Coombe Lane) and the A3, and from Putney and Southfields via the A219 and Kingston Hill. By rail, change at Raynes Park or New Malden for Kingston, then a short walk to Wood Street. Parking is available at the nearby Bentall Centre and Sopwith Way car parks.
We also serve Kingston upon Thames, Surrey (Surbiton & New Malden), Richmond and Teddington.
Your history, examination, duplex ultrasound and, where appropriate, your treatment are carried out by a consultant on the GMC Specialist Register for Vascular Surgery. Same-day scanning means most patients with straightforward disease leave with a written plan after one visit; where deep venous or arterial disease is suspected, a dedicated scan may still be needed and will be arranged. Initial consultation with duplex ultrasound is £365 (one leg) or £520 (both legs) self-pay, with no GP referral required.
Your consultantsCare is led by Mr Magdy Moawad and Mr Abdullah Jibawi, consultant vascular and endovascular surgeons. They hold substantive NHS consultant posts and see private patients at KONCEPT® on a practice-privileges basis, with KONCEPT® as the CQC-regulated facility. Both are BUPA-recognised, fee-assured consultants.

Varicose veins are caused by leaking valves in the leg veins, which can develop regardless of fitness, driven by family history, pregnancy, prolonged standing or sitting, and age. Exercise supports the calf muscle pump but cannot repair a valve that has already failed, which is why a duplex assessment is worthwhile.
Usually only briefly. Walking is actively encouraged after endovenous treatment, and most people return to gentle exercise within days, with your consultant advising on timing for higher-impact activity.
No. Endovenous treatments are performed under local anaesthetic as a day case, walk-in and walk-out, with no overnight stay.
