A private smear test in Kingston with same-day and next-day appointments, a female clinician available on request, and high-risk HPV testing available. Cervical screening checks for the cell changes linked to cervical cancer so they can be found and acted on early. Doctor-led at our CQC-registered clinic opposite Kingston Station, with results in 1 to 2 weeks. It complements, and does not replace, NHS cervical screening.

A private smear test, or cervical screening, takes a small sample of cells from the cervix to look for abnormal cell changes and high-risk HPV, the virus that causes almost all cervical cancers. It is a screening test, not a diagnosis: finding changes early means they can be monitored or treated before they become serious. It does not, on its own, diagnose cancer.
A consultation to review your history, a gentle speculum examination, and a cervical cell sample (liquid-based cytology). High-risk HPV testing is available with your screening and is discussed at your appointment, because HPV is the main cause of cervical cell changes. A GMC-registered doctor explains your result and arranges any follow-up. A female clinician is available on request.
Book a private smear test if you are due or overdue, have had a previous abnormal result, want reassurance between NHS cycles, or would prefer a faster, private appointment. A GMC-registered doctor reviews your history first so your screening is right for you.
A routine smear is not the right route for urgent symptoms. If you have heavy or unusual vaginal bleeding, severe pelvic pain, or a fever with pelvic symptoms, contact urgent medical services or attend A&E. Persistent symptoms such as bleeding after sex or between periods, or a change in discharge, should be assessed by a doctor promptly rather than waiting for a routine screen.
You can ask for a female clinician when you book, subject to availability, so the appointment feels as comfortable as possible.
Same-day and next-day appointments without a referral, including evenings and Saturdays subject to availability. The clinic is opposite Kingston Station.
Time to discuss your history, any symptoms and your wider women's health, with a GMC-registered doctor who explains your result clearly.
The procedure is carried out in our CQC-registered Kingston clinic, with samples processed by an accredited UK pathology laboratory.
If a result needs further assessment, the doctor explains the next step clearly and arranges a specialist referral where appropriate.
A smear can be combined with a Wellwomen Check or HRT & menopause review for a fuller assessment.
The NHS provides comprehensive cervical screening and remains the right route for many people. The NHS Cervical Screening Programme is free and invites most people with a cervix regularly. KONCEPT® is designed to complement, not replace, that programme, for people who want faster access, an appointment between NHS cycles, a female clinician of their choosing, or who have symptoms or are overdue. Where helpful, we share results with your NHS GP for continuity.

KONCEPT® encourages continued participation in NHS screening and shares clinical summaries with your NHS GP on request. Guidance is available from NHS cervical screening and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.
A GMC-registered doctor reviews your history, previous results and any symptoms, and confirms screening is appropriate. You can request a female clinician.
A gentle speculum examination and a cervical cell sample, taking a few minutes. High-risk HPV testing is available and discussed with you.
Your sample is processed by an accredited UK pathology laboratory for cytology and, where included, high-risk HPV.
Most results within 1 to 2 weeks, sent securely. If anything needs follow-up, the doctor explains it and arranges the next step or a referral.
Most results are normal. If abnormal cells or high-risk HPV are found, the doctor explains clearly what it means, recommends the right interval or next test, and arranges a specialist referral (for example for colposcopy) where appropriate. With your consent, a summary can be shared with your NHS GP for continuity.
A smear test often sits within a wider women's health review. The doctor can recommend the most useful additional service at booking.

A smear test, or cervical screening, is a quick clinical procedure that takes a small sample of cells from the cervix to check for abnormal cell changes and high-risk HPV, the virus linked to cervical cancer. It is a screening test, not a diagnosis. Finding changes early means they can be monitored or treated before they become serious.
Under the NHS Cervical Screening Programme, most people with a cervix are invited every 3 to 5 years depending on age and previous results. A private smear can be useful between NHS cycles, if you are overdue, if you have new symptoms, or for reassurance. A GMC-registered doctor will advise what is right for you.
High-risk HPV testing is available with your cervical screening and is discussed at your appointment. HPV is the main cause of cervical cell changes, so HPV testing is an important part of modern screening. The doctor will explain what is included and what your results mean.
Most people find a smear test quick and only mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. It involves a gentle speculum examination and takes a few minutes. You can ask the clinician to stop at any point, and a female clinician is available on request.
Yes. A female clinician is available on request, subject to availability. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible, and you can let us know your preference when you book.
No. You can book a private smear test directly, online or in person, without a referral. A GMC-registered doctor reviews your history first to make sure screening is appropriate for you.
Most results are available within 1 to 2 weeks. Your result is sent securely, and if any follow-up is needed the doctor explains it clearly and arranges the next step or a specialist referral.
A routine smear is not the right route for urgent symptoms. If you have heavy or unusual vaginal bleeding, severe pelvic pain, or a fever with pelvic symptoms, contact urgent medical services or attend A&E. Persistent symptoms such as bleeding after sex or between periods should be assessed by a doctor promptly rather than waiting for a routine screen.
A single administration fee that covers your whole visit, charged once per visit, not per test. The all-in price of £245 already includes it.
Home HPV self-sample kits check for high-risk HPV from a self-taken sample and are a useful option being introduced by the NHS. A private smear at KONCEPT® adds a clinician-taken cervical sample with a cytology (cell) check as well as HPV, a gentle examination, and a doctor to explain your result and arrange any follow-up in person.
NHS cervical screening is excellent and free, and remains the right route for many people. KONCEPT® complements it for those who want faster access, an appointment between NHS cycles, a female clinician of their choosing, or who have symptoms or are overdue. With your consent, results can be shared with your NHS GP.
