Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a medical device to prompt your skin’s own repair response, improving texture, fine lines, pores and the look of some scars over a course. At KONCEPT® it is performed by Dr Maryam, a GMC-registered doctor, after a skin assessment.
Consultation £150, redeemable against your treatment.
Collagen induction
In a peer-reviewed study, a measured marker of type I collagen rose after a course of microneedling
Your own repair
It prompts the skin’s natural repair response and adds nothing to the skin
Treated as a course
Commonly 3 sessions a few weeks apart, then maintenance
Collagen-induction findings from peer-reviewed dermatology research (see references in the page schema). Results build gradually over a course and individual results vary.
Microneedling uses a medical device fitted with very fine needles to create thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin. These are small enough to heal quickly but enough to switch on the skin’s natural repair response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin. Because it works on the skin’s own processes, the improvement builds gradually over a course rather than appearing at once.
It is sometimes called collagen induction therapy. It is used for skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven tone and the appearance of certain scars, including some acne scarring.
Microneedling breaches the skin barrier, so technique, depth and hygiene matter. At KONCEPT® it is delivered the medical way:
Microneedling can be combined with platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, prepared from a small sample of your own blood and applied to the freshly treated skin. The idea is to add your own growth factors to the skin’s repair response. At KONCEPT a PRP facial is £400 for a single session and £1,020 for a course of three. Your doctor will advise whether microneedling alone or microneedling with PRP suits your skin and goals.
If your concern is hair thinning rather than facial skin, that is a different pathway. We investigate the cause first on our hair PRP page, and we do not promise regrowth.
Skin assessment, your concerns and goals, and a check that microneedling is suitable.
The skin is cleansed and a numbing cream is applied for comfort.
The device is passed over the area to a controlled depth. A session usually takes around 30 minutes plus numbing time.
Redness settles over a day or two. Results build across the course, reviewed by your doctor.
Consultation £150, redeemable against your treatment. Courses of three are 15% off the single-session price. See the complete aesthetic price list.
Wanting smoother, healthier-looking skin is completely normal. Occasionally, distress about appearance is driven more by how a person feels than by anything a treatment can change. Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD, is a recognised mental-health condition in which someone becomes preoccupied with a perceived flaw that others scarcely notice. Studies suggest around 2 in 100 people are affected in the general population, rising to roughly 7 to 15 in 100 among people seeking cosmetic treatment.
Because your treatment here is led by a GMC-registered doctor, the consultation considers your wellbeing alongside your skin. If a doctor feels a treatment is unlikely to help, or that the concern is really about how you feel, the caring answer is to say so rather than to treat, and to signpost support such as your GP and the BDD Foundation.
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a medical device with very fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This prompts the skin’s natural repair response and the production of collagen and elastin over a course. It is used to improve skin texture, fine lines, pores, tone and the look of some scars. At KONCEPT it is performed by a doctor after a skin assessment.
Microneedling works by stimulating the skin’s own repair processes rather than adding anything to the skin. Over a planned course it can improve skin texture, firmness, pores and the appearance of certain scars. Results build gradually across the course and with maintenance. Your doctor gives you a realistic idea of what it can and cannot do for your skin.
Most patients find it comfortable. A numbing cream is applied beforehand, and the sensation is usually described as mild prickling or vibration. Some redness like mild sunburn is normal afterwards and settles over a day or two. Your doctor adjusts the depth to the area and to your comfort.
We offer medical microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy. Radiofrequency microneedling is a different device that also delivers heat into the skin. At your consultation the doctor can explain which approach suits your skin and goals.
Microneedling for the face is £350 for a single session and £892.50 for a course of three. Face and neck, and body areas, are priced higher. The full price list is on our aesthetic prices page and your plan is confirmed at your consultation.
Microneedling improves the skin gradually and the benefit is maintained over time rather than lasting a fixed period. Most patients have a course of three and then occasional maintenance sessions to keep the result. Your doctor suggests a sensible interval for your skin.
Performed by a trained clinician with a medical device and proper hygiene, microneedling has a good safety record. It is not suitable for everyone, for example with active acne or infection, certain skin conditions, or in pregnancy. This is why it starts with a doctor-led assessment. See our contraindications guidance.
A typical course is three sessions about four to six weeks apart, with maintenance afterwards. Redness usually settles within one to two days, and most people return to normal activities quickly. Your doctor sets the spacing that suits your skin.
Microneedling is generally avoided in pregnancy, so let us know at your consultation. We usually advise leaving makeup off for the rest of the day after treatment while the skin settles. See our aftercare guidance.
