Reviewed by Dr Maryam Attarzadeh, Medical Director at KONCEPT® Medical Clinic (GMC 8193218). The Wellman Check is delivered by a GMC-registered doctor at the clinic.

What the Wellman Check is

The Wellman check is the men's-health equivalent of the Wellwomen Check at KONCEPT®. It is a personalised consultation, not a fixed test bundle. A GMC-registered doctor reviews your medical history, lifestyle and family history, examines you, discusses what is on your mind, and agrees a written plan with you. Investigations such as blood panels are arranged only if the doctor identifies a clinical need at your appointment.

If the doctor recommends a blood panel during the appointment, you receive 10% off any Men's Blood Test when you book it at the clinic. Mention your Wellman Check booking reference at checkout.

Your Wellman pathway

Six things are included in the £399. The first happens before you arrive. The last continues after you leave. Diagnostic tests are not bundled. They are arranged separately, only if the doctor identifies a clinical need at your appointment.

1

Pre-consultation questionnaire

You complete this before your appointment. The doctor reviews your medical, lifestyle and family history in advance, so the consultation focuses on you, not on form-filling.

2

30-minute GP consultation

An unhurried appointment with a GMC-registered doctor. Time is dedicated to what is on your mind, including symptoms you may not have raised with your NHS GP.

3

Personalised medical examination

Blood pressure, BMI, urinalysis where useful, and a focused physical examination tailored to your history. PSA on request and where clinically appropriate (see FAQ on PSA below).

4

Diagnostic decision

The doctor explains which investigations are clinically right for you, if any. Blood panels, ECG, ultrasound, imaging or an onward referral. You decide together what to arrange.

5

Personalised treatment plan

A written plan is sent securely to your email. It includes lifestyle and prevention advice, any prescriptions issued, and onward referrals where needed.

6

Follow-up and GP liaison

A 10 to 15-minute follow-up after any investigations or onward referral, in person or by video. With your consent, your plan is shared with your NHS GP for coordinated care.

Honest about value

The £399 covers the consultation, examination, written plan and the post-investigation follow-up. It does not include blood tests, ECG, ultrasound or imaging. If the doctor identifies a clinical need for investigations, they are arranged afterwards.

Any Men's Blood Test recommended at your Wellman Check is offered at 10% off. Mention your booking reference at checkout. The discount applies to any of the Men's Blood Test panels at the clinic, including the General Health, Testosterone, Sexual Health, Bone Health, Thyroid, Heart, Cardiovascular Risk and Performance Optimisation panels.

Pricing on this page reflects the published £399 fee for a Wellman Check at KONCEPT®. Blood tests are priced separately on each Men's Blood Test page. Same-day, Saturday and out-of-hours appointments are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Three ways to book your Wellman care

Depending on what you already know about your health, there are three sensible routes into the clinic. The Wellman Check is the right starting point if you want a doctor-led review first; the panel routes work well if you already know which blood test you want.

Tier 1 · Doctor-led review

Wellman Check on its own

£399
  • 30-min GP consultation with a GMC-registered doctor
  • Pre-consultation questionnaire and personalised examination
  • Written plan emailed securely
  • 10 to 15-min follow-up after any investigations
  • No blood tests bundled
Tier 2 · Doctor-led + blood work

Wellman Check + Men's Blood Test

£399 + Men's Blood Test (10% off when recommended)
  • Everything in Tier 1
  • If the doctor identifies a clinical need for blood work, you receive 10% off any Men's Blood Test panel
  • Mention your Wellman booking reference at checkout
  • Results reviewed by the same clinical team at the follow-up
Tier 3 · Skip straight to a panel

A Men's Blood Test panel directly

From £238 (panel-dependent)
  • For men who already know which panel they want (for example, Testosterone or Heart)
  • Doctor-reviewed result, with a short outcome note
  • If the result needs a GP discussion, the GP consultation is £149
  • No Wellman consultation included

Why choose a Wellman Check

A Wellman Check gives men a structured, evidence-led starting point. It is built around what a GMC-registered doctor can establish in a 30-minute, unhurried consultation, not a one-size-fits-all panel sold to everyone who walks in.

Personalised, doctor-led reviewTime with a GMC-registered doctor focused on you, your history and what is on your mind.
Examination, not just a chatFocused physical examination including BP, BMI, urinalysis where useful, and PSA on request where clinically appropriate.
Honest, transparent pathwayOnly the investigations you need are recommended. No bundled tests. 10% off any Men's Blood Test arranged at your appointment.
Written plan, sent securelyPersonalised plan emailed to you, with lifestyle and prevention advice, any prescriptions and onward referrals.

Continuity of care with your NHS GPWith your consent, the plan is shared with your NHS GP so your records stay current and your care stays coordinated.

When to consider a Wellman Check

The Wellman Check works well as an annual review or as a starting point when something is on your mind that you have not yet discussed in detail.

An annual men's-health review

For men in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s who want a structured baseline and a written plan, rather than a sequence of one-off appointments.

A family history of heart disease, prostate disease or diabetes

A 30-minute consultation gives you time to discuss what your family history means for your screening choices.

Low energy, low libido or mood changes

Symptoms that often have more than one contributor. The doctor reviews the full picture, including sleep, stress, weight and possible hormonal contributors.

Returning to exercise or starting a new training block

Useful if you want a doctor-led baseline before increasing training load, particularly if you are 40 plus or have a family cardiac history.

Symptoms you have not raised with your NHS GP

Sometimes a longer, private appointment is the right place to discuss a symptom you have been putting off, including symptoms related to sexual health, urinary function or mood.

You want a structured, preventive plan

A written plan that addresses lifestyle, risk-factor management and clinical surveillance, rather than reactive treatment after a problem develops.

Red-flag symptoms requiring prompt review

If you experience any of the following, the Wellman Check is not the right route. Use NHS 111, contact your NHS GP urgently, or call 999 / attend an emergency department:

  • New or persistent chest pain, or breathlessness at rest
  • Sudden visual loss, weakness or numbness on one side of the body, or sudden difficulty speaking
  • Severe abdominal pain, or blood in the urine or stool
  • Unintentional, unexplained weight loss
  • A new testicular lump, persistent testicular pain, or new severe difficulty passing urine

What to expect on the day

1

Consultation

The doctor takes a detailed medical, lifestyle and family history. You discuss any symptoms or concerns, including sleep, stress, diet, activity, mood and sexual health.

2

Examination

Focused physical examination: BP, pulse, BMI, waist measurement, urinalysis where useful. PSA on request and where clinically appropriate. The doctor explains what each measurement means in your context.

3

Plan and recommendations

The doctor explains what the consultation and examination suggest, identifies any risk factors that warrant attention, and offers lifestyle and clinical recommendations. Any investigations are arranged afterwards, only if there is a clinical need.

4

Follow-up and aftercare

A written plan is emailed to you securely. Investigations such as blood panels are arranged afterwards. A 10 to 15-minute follow-up reviews any results. With your consent, your plan is shared with your NHS GP.

Wellman Check FAQs

What is included in the £399?

The £399 covers the pre-consultation questionnaire, a 30-minute GP consultation with a GMC-registered doctor, a personalised physical examination, a written plan sent securely by email, and a 10 to 15-minute follow-up after any investigations or onward referral. Blood tests, ECG, ultrasound and imaging are not bundled. If the doctor identifies a clinical need for investigations, they are arranged afterwards.

Are blood tests included?

No. The Wellman Check is a doctor-led consultation, not a blood-test bundle. If the doctor identifies a clinical need for blood work at your appointment, you receive 10% off any Men's Blood Test panel. Mention your Wellman booking reference at checkout.

How is this different from a standard private GP consultation?

A standard private GP consultation at the clinic is £149 and is built around one specific issue or follow-up question. The Wellman Check is a longer, structured 30-minute appointment with a pre-consultation questionnaire, a personalised examination, a written plan and a follow-up, designed as an annual or preventive review rather than a single-issue visit.

How long does the appointment take?

The Wellman Check consultation is 30 minutes. A 10 to 15-minute follow-up is included after any investigations or onward referral.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. With your consent, your plan and any results are shared with your NHS GP after the appointment so your records stay current.

Do I need to fast before the appointment?

Fasting is only needed if specific blood tests (for example, fasting glucose or fasting insulin) are recommended at your appointment. The Wellman Check itself does not require fasting. If you would like blood tests on the same visit, the clinic will advise on fasting at the time of booking.

Is PSA tested at the Wellman Check?

PSA is offered on request and where clinically appropriate. PSA is a screening adjunct rather than a definitive prostate cancer test, and the doctor will discuss the benefits and limitations of PSA with you before testing, in line with NICE CKS guidance on prostate cancer. A more advanced prostate-cancer risk score is offered separately as the Stockholm3 test where clinically appropriate.

What if I want testosterone or a full hormone panel checked?

Testosterone, SHBG, free testosterone, LH, FSH and prolactin are not included in the Wellman Check itself. They are available as the Men's Testosterone & Hormone Blood Test and are offered at 10% off if recommended during your Wellman Check.

What if I want a heart or cardiovascular risk panel checked?

Standard cholesterol, glucose and basic cardiometabolic markers can be discussed at the Wellman Check, and a fuller panel is available as the Men's Heart Blood Test. For a more advanced residual-risk profile including Lp(a), ApoB, hs-CRP and homocysteine, see the Advanced Cardiovascular Risk panel. The Wellman Check helps you decide which is right for you.

Can the doctor share my plan with my NHS GP?

Yes, with your consent. The clinic shares the written plan and any investigation results with your NHS GP so your records stay current and care stays coordinated.

Is the appointment confidential?

Yes. All consultations and records are handled in line with the clinic's privacy policy, GDPR and the clinic's clinical-records procedures. Information is only shared with your NHS GP or other clinicians with your explicit consent.

What does the 10% Men's Blood Test discount cover?

If the doctor recommends a Men's Blood Test at your Wellman Check, you receive 10% off that panel when you book it. The discount applies to any of the Men's Blood Test panels at the clinic. Mention your Wellman booking reference at checkout.

How does the Wellman Check compare to a Wellwomen Check?

The Wellman Check is the men's-equivalent product. The format is the same: 30-minute personalised GP consultation, examination, written plan, and a follow-up after any investigations, with 10% off any blood test if recommended. The medical content differs in line with the relevant evidence base for men, including the role of PSA testing and male-specific hormonal and cardiometabolic considerations.

Same-day appointments?

Same / next-day, Saturday and out-of-hours appointments are subject to availability at the time of booking. The clinic team can confirm the next available slot when you call or book online.
