Collagen biostimulators prompt your own skin to rebuild collagen, restoring firmness and structure that is lost with age. KONCEPT® offers both Sculptra and Radiesse, each placed by Dr Maryam, a GMC-registered doctor, after a medical consultation.
Consultation £150, redeemable against your treatment.
Collagen decline
About 1% per year from the mid-20s
After menopause
Women can lose up to 30% of skin collagen in 5 years
Sculptra results
Build over months, can last up to around 2 years
Collagen figures: American Academy of Dermatology and published skin-ageing research. Biostimulators support your own collagen, they do not stop ageing, and results are maintained over time.
A collagen biostimulator is an injectable that prompts your skin to make new collagen, rather than simply filling a line. The result is a gradual, natural-looking restoration of firmness and structure. KONCEPT® offers the two most established options.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid. It does not add instant volume. Instead it stimulates your collagen gradually, with the result building over months and lasting up to around two years. It suits an overall loss of firmness across the face.
Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite. It gives some instant volume as a scaffold and also stimulates collagen, so it suits deeper lines, jawline definition and the hands.
A doctor helps you choose based on your goals. As a guide:
| Sculptra | Radiesse | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Poly-L-lactic acid | Calcium hydroxylapatite |
| Instant volume | No, works gradually | Yes, plus collagen over time |
| Best for | Overall facial firmness | Deeper lines, jawline, hands |
| Results appear | Over months | Some straight away, more over time |
| From | £600 a vial | £450 a syringe |
Some patients suit a combination, or a biostimulator alongside a skin booster for skin quality. Your doctor plans this with you.
Consultation £150, redeemable against your treatment. The number of vials or syringes is planned with your doctor. See the full aesthetic price list.
Wanting to look refreshed is completely normal. For some people, though, distress about a feature is driven by how they feel rather than by how it looks, and treatment does not settle that distress. Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD, is a recognised mental-health condition of this kind, and it is more common among people seeking cosmetic treatment, where studies report around 7 to 15 in every 100 may be affected, compared with about 2 in every 100 people generally. Because your treatment is led by a GMC-registered doctor, your consultation considers your wellbeing as well as your skin. If a treatment is unlikely to help, the caring answer is to say so and to point you towards support, including your GP and the BDD Foundation.
Sculptra is an injectable collagen biostimulator. Rather than simply filling a line, a biostimulator prompts your own skin to make new collagen, so over a course it can restore firmness and structure that is lost with age. KONCEPT offers two biostimulators, Sculptra and Radiesse, both placed by a GMC-registered doctor.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid. It does not add instant volume. Instead it stimulates your collagen gradually, with results building over months and lasting up to around two years. Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite. It gives some instant volume as a scaffold and also stimulates collagen, so it suits deeper lines, jawline definition and the hands. Your doctor advises which suits your goals, or whether a combination is right.
Dermal filler adds volume directly and is usually reversible. Skin boosters such as Profhilo and polynucleotides improve skin quality and hydration. Collagen biostimulators work deeper and over time to rebuild your own collagen and structure. They are different tools for different goals, and a doctor helps you choose.
Biostimulators are planned as a course, often two to three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, because collagen builds gradually. Your doctor sets a realistic plan at your consultation. Results appear over the following weeks and months rather than immediately.
Sculptra is £600 per vial or session, with a course of three at £1,530. Radiesse is £450 per syringe, with a course of three at £1,147.50. The number of vials or syringes is planned with your doctor. The full list is on our aesthetic prices page.
Biostimulators are generally avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding, with active infection at the area, with a known allergy to a component, and where there is a history of keloid scarring. Care is needed with autoimmune conditions and blood-thinning medicine. Your doctor checks suitability at the consultation. See our contraindications page.
Because biostimulators work by prompting your own collagen, the result develops over months and is long-lasting. Sculptra results commonly last up to around two years once a course is complete. Radiesse adds some immediate volume and also stimulates collagen, with results that typically last around a year or more. Your doctor explains the expected timeline for your plan at the consultation, and individual results vary.
