Why doctor-led

Medical care, not just a treatment

Aesthetic treatments are medical procedures. At KONCEPT® that is how they are treated. Your consultation considers your health, your suitability and your wellbeing, your treatment is performed by a doctor in a CQC-registered clinic, a prescriber is on site, and a doctor manages anything that needs attention afterwards. If a treatment is unlikely to help, we will tell you honestly.

What we treat

Concerns we treat

Most patients come to us with a concern in mind rather than a specific treatment. At your consultation a doctor examines your skin and recommends what suits you. As a guide, here is how common concerns map to the treatments we offer.

Fine lines and expression linesAnti-wrinkle treatments relax the muscles that create forehead, frown and eye lines.
Loss of volume or definitionDermal fillers restore volume and contour to the lips, cheeks, chin and jaw.
Skin laxity and firmnessSculptra and Radiesse collagen biostimulators rebuild your own collagen over time.
Dull, tired or crepey skinProfhilo and polynucleotides are skin boosters that improve hydration and skin quality.
Texture, pores and uneven toneMicroneedling and medical skin peels work on the skin’s surface and renewal.
Under-eye shadows and hollowsA doctor-led under-eye approach, led by polynucleotides for skin quality, with filler only where a doctor judges it appropriate.
Excessive underarm sweatingHyperhidrosis treatment for axillary sweating, a recognised medical condition.
Thinning hairHair PRP care that investigates the cause first, then treats where appropriate.

Not sure which applies to you? That is what the consultation is for.

Why doctor-led matters in aesthetics

UK regulation

Many non-surgical cosmetic treatments are not legally required to be done by a medical professional

At KONCEPT

Every treatment is performed by a GMC-registered doctor in a CQC-registered clinic

Prescriber on site

So prescription treatments and any complications are managed medically

The UK Government and the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners have both highlighted the need to improve the safety of non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

An honest word on exosomes

Why we do not offer injectable exosomes

Exosomes are widely talked about, and you may have seen them offered elsewhere. We do not offer injectable exosomes. In the UK the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency treats injected exosomes as a medicine with no marketing authorisation, which means they cannot lawfully be used in aesthetic procedures. The Save Face register has issued a patient-safety warning on this.

We would rather offer treatments with a clear evidence base and a lawful basis. For the regenerative results patients often have in mind, we offer polynucleotides, PRP and microneedling, which support the skin in similar ways. A doctor who follows the rules and tells you the truth is the safest place to start.

FAQs

Common questions

What does doctor-led aesthetics mean?

It means every treatment is performed by a doctor, after a medical consultation. At KONCEPT your aesthetic treatments are carried out by Dr Maryam Attarzadeh, a GMC-registered doctor, in a CQC-registered clinic with a prescriber on site. Many non-surgical cosmetic treatments in the UK are not legally required to be performed by a medical professional, so doctor-led care is a real difference.

Which aesthetic treatment is right for me?

That is what the consultation is for. Different concerns suit different treatments, skin boosters such as Profhilo and polynucleotides for skin quality, collagen biostimulators for firmness and structure, dermal fillers for volume, anti-wrinkle treatment for expression lines, and peels or microneedling for skin texture. At your consultation a doctor assesses your skin and goals and recommends a plan, rather than selling a fixed package.

Are aesthetic treatments safe?

No treatment is entirely without risk, which is why ours are doctor-led. Every treatment at KONCEPT starts with a medical consultation and a suitability check, is performed by a GMC-registered doctor in a CQC-registered clinic with a prescriber on site, and comes with clear aftercare and a route to contact us if you have a concern. Your doctor explains the specific risks of your chosen treatment before you go ahead.

Do you offer exosomes?

We do not offer injectable exosomes. In the UK the MHRA treats injected exosomes as a medicine with no marketing authorisation, so they cannot lawfully be used in aesthetic procedures. We prefer to offer treatments with a clear evidence base and a lawful basis, such as polynucleotides, PRP and microneedling, which support the skin in similar ways.

How much is a consultation?

An aesthetic consultation is £150, and it is redeemable against the cost of your treatment. At the consultation your doctor assesses you, discusses your goals, checks suitability and agrees a plan and price.

Where are you, and do I need a referral?

KONCEPT Medical Clinic is at 46 to 48 Wood Street, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1UW. No GP referral is needed, and you can book a consultation directly. We see patients from across Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden, Wimbledon, Richmond, Teddington and the wider Surrey area.

How soon will I see results?

It depends on the treatment. Dermal fillers give an immediate change, while skin boosters and collagen biostimulators build gradually over several weeks as the skin responds. Your doctor explains the likely timeline for your treatment at your consultation.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime varies by treatment. Skin boosters and anti-wrinkle treatment usually involve little to no downtime, while medium-depth peels and microneedling can involve a few days of redness or flaking. Your doctor explains what to expect for your treatment.

Can treatments be combined?

Often, yes. Many patients have more than one treatment as part of a plan, for example a skin booster alongside a peel. Your doctor sequences and spaces treatments so they work together safely.

How much do treatments cost?

The consultation is £150 and is redeemable against your treatment. Treatment prices start from £100 for an LED session, with most treatments from around £200 to £450, and biostimulator and peel courses priced higher. Your exact price is agreed at your consultation.
