Hair loss treatment and hair PRP in Kingston

Hair loss has many causes, and a treatment works best when it matches the cause. At KONCEPT® we are doctor-led, so we look at why you are losing hair first, with blood tests and a doctor’s review where needed, then treat with PRP where it is likely to help. Your care is led by Dr Maryam, a GMC-registered doctor.

Why it matters

Many causes are treatable once identified, which is why we investigate first

Prevalence figures from DermNet and published dermatology sources. Hair loss is common and often treatable, and a doctor can identify the cause.

The KONCEPT difference

We find out why first, then treat

Hair loss can come from pattern hair loss, thyroid problems, low iron, hormonal changes, stress and more. A treatment such as PRP works best when it matches the cause. A blood test is part of that workup, but a diagnosis needs a doctor to combine the results with your history and an examination. This medical investigation is part of the doctor-led approach.

1. Consultation

A doctor reviews your history, pattern of hair loss and an examination of the scalp.

2. Investigate

Hair-loss blood tests where needed, to look for treatable causes such as iron, thyroid and hormones.

3. Diagnose

Your doctor combines the results with the examination to explain what is driving your hair loss.

4. Treat

A plan suited to the cause, which may include a PRP course, alongside any medical management.

What it is

What is hair PRP?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small sample of your own blood is taken and processed to concentrate the platelets, which contain growth factors. The concentrated plasma is then injected into the scalp by a doctor, with the aim of supporting hair follicles that are still active.

PRP is most useful as part of a plan, after the cause of your hair loss is understood. Results vary from person to person, and we do not promise regrowth. Your doctor will be honest about what is realistic for you, including whether another treatment or an onward referral suits you better.

Your wellbeing comes first

Hair loss and how you feel

Hair loss can affect confidence and mood, and those feelings are valid. A doctor-led consultation is the right place to talk it through, because the aim is to help you in a way that is realistic and safe. For some people, distress about appearance is driven by how they feel rather than by what others see. Body Dysmorphic Disorder, or BDD, is a recognised mental-health condition of this kind, more common among people seeking cosmetic treatment, where studies report around 7 to 15 in every 100 may be affected, compared with about 2 in every 100 people generally. If treatment is unlikely to help, the caring answer is to say so and to point you towards support, including your GP and the BDD Foundation.

FAQs

Hair PRP, common questions

What is hair PRP?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small sample of your own blood is taken and processed to concentrate the platelets, which are then injected into the scalp. Platelets contain growth factors, and the aim is to support the hair follicles. At KONCEPT it is used as part of a doctor-led hair-loss plan, by a GMC-registered doctor.

Why do you investigate the cause first?

Hair loss has many causes, including pattern hair loss, thyroid problems, low iron, hormonal changes and stress. A treatment works best when it matches the cause. A blood test is part of that workup, but a diagnosis needs a doctor to combine the results with your history and an examination. This is why we investigate before we treat.

Does PRP regrow hair?

PRP is used to support hair where the follicles are still active, and results vary from person to person. We do not promise regrowth, and a doctor will be honest about what is realistic for you, including whether another treatment or onward referral suits you better. A clear plan and realistic expectations are set at your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

Hair PRP is planned as a course, commonly a few sessions a few weeks apart, with maintenance afterwards. Your doctor sets a realistic plan based on the cause of your hair loss and your goals. Results build gradually over the course rather than immediately.

How much does hair PRP cost at KONCEPT?

Hair PRP is £450 per session and £1,147.50 for a course of three, a saving of £202.50. If blood tests are needed to investigate the cause, these are priced separately. The full list is on our aesthetic prices page, and your plan is confirmed at your consultation.

Who should not have hair PRP?

PRP uses your own blood, so it is generally avoided with certain blood, clotting or platelet conditions, with active infection at the site, in pregnancy, and where you take medicines that affect bleeding or immunity. Your doctor checks suitability at the consultation. See our safety and aftercare page.

How long do hair PRP results last, and how often are sessions needed?

Hair PRP is planned as a course, commonly three to four sessions a few weeks apart, with maintenance sessions afterwards. Any benefit is supported by continuing to address the underlying cause found in your workup, which is why we investigate first. We do not promise regrowth, and your doctor will set realistic expectations and a maintenance plan at your consultation. Individual results vary.

Who performs the treatment, and do I need a referral?

Your treatment is performed by Dr Maryam Attarzadeh, a GMC-registered doctor, at our CQC-registered Kingston clinic. No GP referral is needed, and you can book a consultation directly.

KONCEPT® Medical Clinic is registered with the Care Quality Commission for the regulated activities provided at our Kingston upon Thames premises. A blood test is part of a hair-loss assessment, and a diagnosis is made by a doctor who combines the results with your history and examination. Treatments are performed by Dr Maryam Attarzadeh, on the General Medical Council register, registered with the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), and an associate member of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM). Individual results vary.
