Female Fertility Blood Test in Kingston

The female fertility test Kingston women choose for an objective hormonal picture before or during fertility planning. This panel measures the reproductive hormones, ovarian reserve (AMH) and ovulation (day-21 progesterone) that inform fertility decisions and help explain irregular or absent periods. It does not predict whether or when you will conceive, what it gives you and your doctor is the data to plan from. Reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor at our CQC-registered clinic opposite Kingston Station, with results in 2 to 5 working days.

Who this panel is for

An objective hormonal picture for fertility planning

This panel is for women who want a clear hormonal baseline before or during fertility planning, and for women looking into irregular or absent periods. It brings together the reproductive hormones, ovarian reserve and an ovulation check so a doctor can interpret the full picture in context, rather than reading one number in isolation.

Planning to conceive Irregular or absent periods Before a fertility assessment Considering egg-freezing assessment Suspected hormonal imbalance Possible PCOS features

What this test does, and what it does not do

This panel gives an objective picture of your reproductive hormones, ovarian reserve and ovulation, which a doctor interprets alongside your age and clinical history. It does not predict whether or when you will conceive, and no blood test can. It is one helpful input into fertility planning, not a yes-or-no fertility answer.

If you only want ovarian reserve on its own, see the dedicated AMH Test. If irregular periods, acne or unwanted hair point towards polycystic ovary syndrome, the PCOS Blood Test may be the better starting point. You can view the full blood test range or call the clinic and the doctor will guide you at booking.

What this panel measures

What a female fertility test checks, marker by marker

Reproductive hormones

FSH · LH · Oestradiol · Prolactin

The pituitary and ovarian hormones that drive the menstrual cycle. Their balance helps explain irregular or absent periods, and prolactin rules out a pituitary cause of cycle disruption.

Ovarian reserve

AMH

AMH is a measure of ovarian reserve, the size of the remaining egg pool. It is one input alongside your age and history. It does not predict natural conception, IVF success or the time until menopause, and is read against your age band. For ovarian reserve on its own, see the AMH Test.

Ovulation

Day-21 progesterone

Progesterone rises in the second half of the cycle after ovulation. Measured around 7 days before your next period (day 21 in a 28-day cycle), it helps confirm whether ovulation has occurred. The doctor advises on timing for irregular cycles.

Androgen profile

Testosterone · SHBG · Free Androgen Index

The androgen markers that feature in PCOS and can affect cycles, acne and hair. Read together they show whether raised androgens are part of the picture.

Thyroid

TSH

Thyroid imbalance is a common and treatable cause of irregular cycles and is relevant before conception, so TSH is checked as part of the workup.

Nutritional markers

Vitamin D · Vitamin B12 · Folate

Vitamin D, B12 and folate are checked because they are relevant before conception and are simple to correct. Folate in particular is part of standard preconception advice.

Each result is interpreted by the doctor against your age, cycle and history. Reference ranges vary by laboratory, and a result outside an expected range is not in itself a diagnosis. AMH is reported as a measure of ovarian reserve, not as a fertility or pregnancy prediction.

Why patients across Kingston and Surrey choose KONCEPT®

Why Kingston women choose KONCEPT® for a fertility blood test

A GMC-registered doctor reviews each request

Once you order the panel, a GMC-registered doctor at KONCEPT® reviews the request for clinical suitability before the appointment is confirmed, and guides cycle timing where it matters.

Cycle-aware timing

FSH, LH and oestradiol are most useful early in the cycle and the progesterone marker later, so the doctor times the draw, the difference between an interpretable result and a misleading one.

Results interpreted in context

The doctor reads AMH, ovulation and the reproductive hormones against your age and history, rather than handing you a number to interpret alone, and is clear about what the test can and cannot tell you.

At KONCEPT® the panel is a venous draw in our Kingston clinic, the doctor guides the timing, and the result is read against your age and history rather than an algorithm alone.

Frequently asked

Questions our patients ask about the Fertility panel

Who is the Fertility & Amenorrhoea panel for?

Women who want an objective hormonal picture before or during fertility planning, and women investigating irregular or absent periods (amenorrhoea). It is also useful where PCOS or a hormonal imbalance may be affecting the cycle, or as a baseline before a fertility assessment. It gives you and your doctor data to plan from, in one visit.

Does this test tell me if I can get pregnant?

No. This panel does not predict whether or when you will conceive, and no blood test can. What it does is give an objective picture of your reproductive hormones, ovarian reserve and ovulation, which a doctor interprets alongside your age and clinical history to inform fertility planning. It is one input among several, not a yes-or-no fertility answer.

What does AMH measure?

AMH is a measure of ovarian reserve, the size of the remaining egg pool. It is one clinical input alongside your age and history when considering fertility planning or an egg-freezing assessment. AMH does not predict natural conception, IVF success or the time until menopause. Reference ranges vary by laboratory, so a result is read against your age band, and a number outside the expected range is not in itself a diagnosis. For ovarian reserve on its own, see our dedicated AMH Test page.

What does the panel measure?

Thirteen markers. Reproductive hormones: FSH, LH, oestradiol and prolactin. Ovarian reserve: AMH. Ovulation: day-21 progesterone. Androgen profile: testosterone, SHBG and free androgen index. Thyroid: TSH. Nutritional markers relevant before conception: vitamin D, vitamin B12 and folate. Each result is interpreted by the doctor against your age, cycle and history.

When in my cycle should the test be taken?

Timing matters. FSH, LH and oestradiol are most informative on days 2 to 5 of the cycle, while the progesterone marker is taken in the second half of the cycle, around 7 days before your next period is due, which is day 21 in a textbook 28-day cycle. If your cycle is irregular or absent, the doctor will guide you on the best timing at booking. AMH, thyroid and the nutritional markers are stable across the cycle.

How should I prepare?

No fasting is required. Stop biotin supplements 48 to 72 hours before the test as biotin interferes with several hormone assays. Mention any hormonal contraception, HRT or fertility medication at booking, as these affect interpretation and the doctor may advise on timing.

How quickly do I get my results?

Most results are returned within 2 to 5 working days. If a specific test takes longer, you will be told in advance.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book online, in person at the clinic, or add the panel during a GP consultation at KONCEPT®. A GMC-registered doctor reviews each request for clinical appropriateness before the blood draw.

Will a doctor review and explain my results?

Yes. Every panel is reviewed by one of our GMC-registered doctors. A short outcome note is sent to your email, password-protected, stating either that results are within the expected range or that a GP or specialist review is recommended. If a review is recommended you can choose your NHS GP at no NHS charge, or a KONCEPT® GP consultation at £149.

What is the £39 administration fee?

A single administration fee that covers your whole visit, charged once per visit and never per test, however many tests you book. The all-in panel price of £338 already includes it.

Could my symptoms be PCOS?

Irregular or absent periods, acne and unwanted hair can point to polycystic ovary syndrome, and this panel includes the androgen markers that feature in it. If the picture suggests PCOS, the doctor may recommend the dedicated PCOS Blood Test, which is built around the Rotterdam criteria. Many women have overlapping features, and the doctor can help untangle which is driving which.

How does this compare with home-kit fertility packages?

Home-kit fertility packages post a finger-prick kit and return an algorithm-generated PDF, often with cycle timing left to you. At KONCEPT® the sample is a venous draw in our Kingston clinic, the doctor guides the cycle timing so the progesterone and reproductive hormones are interpretable, and a GMC-registered doctor reviews the result against your age and history. The doctor review is included in the £338 panel price.

Why pay privately if I could get blood tests on the NHS?

The NHS provides comprehensive care and remains the right route for many women. KONCEPT® complements that care for women who want an objective hormonal picture on their own timing, without a referral, interpreted by a doctor in one visit. With your written consent we share a clinical summary with your NHS GP so the result is added to your NHS record alongside your ongoing care.

Where is the clinic?

46 to 48 Wood Street, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1UW. KONCEPT® Medical Clinic is opposite Kingston station, with parking nearby at the Bentall Centre.
