What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts, and perceives the world. It is not an illness or disease, but rather a different way in which the brain functions and processes information.
Some children may develop typically in early years and later experience changes in social or communication skills.
While there is no cure, early diagnosis and intervention have been shown to significantly improve long-term outcomes.
