What are Anti-Wrinkle injections?
Botulinum Toxin, are naturally occurring proteins that work to block nerve signals at the injection point. As signals from the nerves to the muscles in the face are stopped, the injected muscle will no longer be able to contract as tightly, causing wrinkles to relax and soften.

Wrinkle Treatment FAQs
Anti-wrinkle injections are typically used to treat 'areas': these are the frown lines, forehead lines, and crows feet (eye wrinkles). Each of these are 'one' area'.
This depends on many factors. Most people require treatment every 3–4 months to maintain results, however, depending on, some people prefer to let their results completely wear off and have treatment every 6–12 months.
- Lower face treatment does not last as long and may need to be repeated every 2–3 months. Wrinkle relaxation for sweating tends to last longer, at around 6 months.
- Clenching or grinding treatment can last 3–6 months.

Whilst complications are rare, they can and do happen. Many factors may contribute for complications to happen. Very uncommon complications could be something like a bruise following treatment, or a drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow. It can be caused by using too much wrinkle relaxation, being placed in the incorrect area, or perhaps it can diffuse into the wrong muscle.
At KONCEPT Medical Clinic, our approach is to minimise the risk of anything like this occurring.
Side effects can include headache, especially for the first timer after treatment, general tiredness, nausea, temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow, double vision and neck weakness. In some people an unusual eyebrow position can actually be caused by not using enough wrinkle relaxation and the muscle raising the eyebrow becomes over active which can be easily treated by your aesthetic physician.
You can return to work after the treatment, however, avoid bending down for a few hours.
It is requested by patients for whom it is very important to be able to express a full range of motions. This term refers to the use of fewer wrinkle relaxation units in order to obtain more movement in the muscle after treatment. The length of time the wrinkle relaxation lasts for is dependent on the amount of wrinkle relaxation used, and usually the effects will last half as long as normal Wrinkle relaxation treatment.
This is a treatment to the muscles of the neck and jawline to allow the muscle to fall back flat against the underlying tissue of the jaw. It is only suitable for those who have prominent muscles in this area which does not allow them to have a strong jawline, therefore, it does not work for all.

Wrinkle treatment was first approved for improvement in the appearance of frown lines in the UK (2006). It then became approved for use in the crow’s feet and forehead lines. It had previously been used for these areas since 1996, but ‘off label’, meaning that the approvals came later.
There is no evidence yet to suggest that there is any risk with Botox and the Covid vaccines.
Wrinkle relaxation products by Allergan and Merz contains no animal products. Both brands do contain a tiny amount of human serum albumin.
